Atal Tinkering Laboratory
Established under the Atal Innovation Mission by NITI Aayog, Government of India — our ATL is a state-of-the-art innovation hub where students explore robotics, 3D printing, IoT, and electronics to build real-world solutions.

How It All Began
The Innovation Challenge
A team of students from Somalwar Ramdaspeth, under the guidance of the Science faculty, participated in the Innovation Challenge at Pune with the selected problem — "Air Pollution caused by Traffic".
Negative Ion Generator Solution
Our students proposed an innovative solution using a "Negative Ion Generator" to combat traffic-induced air pollution — a groundbreaking concept that impressed the national selection committee.
Selected Among Top 500
The school was selected among 500 schools in India and received the honour of being one of only two schools selected from Nagpur for the establishment of an Atal Tinkering Laboratory.
₹20 Lakh Grant
NITI Aayog sanctioned a grant of Rs. 20 Lakhs for the establishment of the ATL, enabling the procurement of cutting-edge equipment and resources.
Inauguration — November 2017
The Lab was formally inaugurated in November 2017 with a Tinkering Marathon. This laboratory benefits students from Somalwar Ramdaspeth as well as other schools in the vicinity.
Limca Book of Records
Our ATL innovations earned a place in the Limca Book of Records — a testament to the exceptional quality of student research and invention at Somalwar Ramdaspeth.
What Students Explore
Robotics
Design, build, and program robots to solve real-world challenges using microcontrollers and sensors.
3D Printing
Bring ideas to life with 3D modelling and printing technology — from prototypes to functional products.
IoT & Electronics
Build connected devices using Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and Internet of Things platforms.
Coding & AI
Learn programming languages and explore the fundamentals of artificial intelligence and machine learning.
Environmental Tech
Develop solutions for pollution, waste management, and sustainable energy — like our award-winning Negative Ion Generator.
Community Impact
Students from neighbouring schools also benefit from the ATL, fostering a culture of collaborative innovation across Nagpur.
